Arsenal’s academy is set to get even stronger in January, as the Gunners are closing in on completing a signing they had hoped to close in the summer transfer window.

Hale End is a positive place to be right now, as Mikel Arteta continues to show his commitment to giving the next generation a pathway to Arsenal’s first team.

With Max Dowman training with the first team at the age of 15 on the back of breakthrough seasons for Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, the future is bright.

Things could be about to get a lot brighter for the Arsenal academy in January, however, as long-term transfer target Igor Tyjon could finally complete a big-money move to North London.

Arsenal edge closer to completing Igor Tyjon academy transfer

Arsenal have been watching Tyjon for some time, having a £1m bid for the teenager rejected by Blackburn Rovers in the summer.

The 17-year-old versatile attacker had a clear pathway to Rovers’ first team; however, that situation has changed due to his plans for the future.

As reported by journalist Alan Nixon, Blackburn are reluctant to use Tyjon in the first team due to his stalling on signing a new contract at the club.

Therefore, Nixon understands that Arsenal could finally ‘get the green light’ to buy the striker in January, bearing in mind that his contract expires in the summer.

The England U18 international has been turning heads for some time, with the ball now seemingly in Arsenal’s court to lure the 2008-born talent to the capital at long last.

Max Dowman can vouch for Igor Tyjon’s talent

At a time when Arsenal’s academy is making a lot of noise due to Dowman’s incredible rise, Tyjon could be tempted to join the 15-year-old in N5.

The two players have crossed paths many times at international level, sharing the pitch 11 times for both England U16 and England U17.

On one occasion, Dowman actually assisted Tyjon for a goal, with the two attackers already very much in tune, with the Arsenal star being the creator and Blackburn’s prodigy the scorer.

Just like Dowman, Tyjon is currently playing beyond his years in the U21 Premier League for Blackburn, but will he still be at Rovers by the end of the season?

Right now, it appears to be unlikely.
