It is no secret that Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is a big fan of Arsenal star Granit Xhaka.

Corriere dello Sport claimed last month that a swap deal between Arsenal and Inter involving Xhaka and former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen is a very serious possibility in the January transfer window.

That works out really well for Arsenal. Xhaka has had a shocking season so far, and his dismissal against Burnley last week summed it up. He looks like a player who doesn’t want to play for us anymore and swapping him for a creator like Eriksen made a lot of sense.

However, those rumours have cooled down over the last few weeks. Inter Milan seem to have given up on their pursuit of the Swiss midfielder. But, they have now set their sights on another Arsenal player, if a report is to be believed.

Inter Milan now want Lucas Torreira

CalcioMercato.it have revealed today that Inter could make a move for Lucas Torreira next month. The Uruguayan is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, but Tuttomercatoweb recently claimed that Diego Simeone wants him out already.

Torreira is now expected to return to the Emirates, but Mikel Arteta doesn’t want him either. If the Uruguayan’s loan deal is cut short, he will be offered to different clubs, and Inter are reportedly ready to pounce.

The Italian giants are set to make the same offer to Arsenal for Torreira as previously reported for Xhaka. A straight swap deal that would see Eriksen make his way to the Emirates with the Uruguayan heading the other way.

That deal would make a lot of sense. Arsenal have no interest in keeping hold of Torreira and the Uruguayan would be open to a return to Italy. That should be a simple decision for Arteta next month.

Eriksen is a proven commodity in the Premier League. He was one of the best creators in the English top-flight during his time with Spurs, and he would be the perfect player to solve our creative woes in the attacking third.
