Alexander Isak has been the talk of North London, and not for good reason when it comes to Arsenal.

The Sweden international showed off his expertise at the Emirates in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, scoring and being an all-round nuisance.

Arsenal lost 2-0 to Newcastle United in the first leg, with Isak being at the forefront of the Magpies’ statement victory.

After the game, Arteta praised Isak’s quality, as the Spaniard could only applaud what the striker did to his prized centre-backs in N5.

Alexander Isak to Arsenal transfer latest

Isak is one of the most in-form strikers in the world right now and from an Arsenal point of view, is exactly what most fans dream of having on their side.

Isak has been a long-term transfer target for Arsenal, who actually eyed signing the Swede back in 2022 before he joined Newcastle.

Arsenal didn’t sign Isak because of his release clause price, as the Gunners deemed it to be over his market value, something that might have left the club’s hierarchy feeling red-faced.

Though Newcastle would ideally like to keep hold of their talisman forever, their £150m valuation of the striker hasn’t derailed Arsenal’s desire to sign him.

That’s according to an update from the Daily Mail, who note that the Gunners are set to ‘revive’ their interest in the forward at the end of the season.

It’s said that sources close to Arsenal ‘insist’ that the club are ‘not opposed’ to hitting the prices of over £100m again, following on from Declan Rice’s transfer in 2023.

That being said, it’s added that Arsenal would ‘need to be creative’ in the market in order to land their second nine-figure player, with interest in Isak far from ruled out.

Isak is worth breaking the bank for

Clinical strikers who make the Premier League their playground are hard to find but, Isak is one of them.

At the time of turning down the striker in 2022, Arsenal were unaware of just how impactful the former Real Sociedad star would be in the English top flight.

But here we are, and Isak is showing no signs of slowing down, as the Emirates saw on Tuesday night when he terrorised William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

Far too many times, Arsenal have missed out on ruthless number nines but this season, it’s become clear that a player of Isak’s profile is the true missing piece to Arteta’s puzzle.
