Andrea Berta has already identified David Raya’s replacement for Arsenal to sign in 2026

Arsenal star David Raya is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The Spaniard joined the Gunners in the summer of 2023, initially on loan. He caused a lot of controversy when he replaced Aaron Ramsdale, but that decision has proved to be the right one.

Raya has saved Arsenal on several occasions over the last two years, but it looks like Andrea Berta is looking for his successor already.

Borussia Dortmund’s Diant Ramaj has been linked with a move to the Emirates.

If you could swap David Raya with any goalkeeper in the world, would you?

Arsenal send scouts to watch Diant Ramaj

David Raya is so good for Arsenal that they don’t need an immediate replacement.

The former Brentford man is the undisputed number one at the club, and we don’t expect that to change any time in the near future.

However, German outlet Sport.de have claimed that the Gunners have been really impressed by Ramaj and have sent their officials to watch him more closely.

The 24-year-old is owned by Borussia Dortmund, but he is currently on loan at Heidenheim. He has impressed there, despite conceding 29 goals in 15 games.

The report describes Ramaj as a ball-playing goalkeeper, similar to Raya, but they highlight how the current Arsenal number one is ‘prone to the occasional blunder’.

‘Ramaj’s profile would therefore fit perfectly into the playing philosophy of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta,’ writes the outlet.

The Stuttgart-born stopper will return to Dortmund in the summer. If the German side’s current goalkeeper, Gregor Kobel, stays, Ramaj is expected to move on, and the report claims that Arsenal’s interest could become more concrete.

It remains to be seen what will happen with Raya if this move goes through.

True or false: David Raya is one of the top three goalkeepers in the world.

Arsenal’s plan may have always been to replace David Raya

As stated above, we don’t think Raya is going to lose his place in the Arsenal side, but the Gunners have been looking for a top-class goalkeeper for a while now.

You may remember that Arsenal were desperate to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol, but the Spaniard ended up joining Barcelona instead.

Although Garcia would’ve come in as the second choice, he was viewed as someone capable of displacing Raya down the line.

Ramaj could be viewed in the same light by Arsenal, which again suggests that they are keeping an eye on potential replacements for Raya in the coming years.
