Nico Williams appears to be a top target for Arsenal this summer, with new sporting director Andrea Berta seemingly making moves to secure a deal, if recent reports are to be believed.
It comes as Mikel Arteta has talked up a big summer transfer window for the Gunners, who have plenty of big plans.
Andrea Berta’s arrival as the new sporting director will see Arsenal take to the market to improve in several areas.
Arsenal Insider understands that a striker, a winger and at least one, if not two, midfielders are on the cards, while a back-up goalkeeper is also a possibility.
On top of that are potential sales, contract renewals, and everything in between that Berta will have to sink his teeth into.
While there are still two months until the transfer window opens in the Premier League, the director has seemingly got to work quite quickly.

Andrea Berta holds a transfer meeting for Nico Williams
Arsenal have been linked with Nico Williams plenty over the past year, following on from some impressive performances for both club and country.
The winger has continued to be rumoured with interest across Europe ahead of another revamped effort from clubs this summer.
As it stands, though, Arsenal could look to steal a march on rivals to seal a deal for Nico Williams in the weeks ahead.
According to Foot Mercato, Andrea Berta has held a meeting with the Spaniard’s representatives over a possible move.

The report claims that discussions were held about a possible transfer for this summer and the interest in that.
It remains to be seen whether that’ll be enough to tempt a move for Williams and vice-versa, but it certainly seems to be the first step for Arsenal and Berta to secure a deal.

How has Nico Williams performed this season?
Nico Williams has had a difficult season since being linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, but he has slowly grown into it.
In his past six La Liga matches, the winger has landed five goal involvements as he starts to find his rhythm once again.
| Appearances | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|
| 25 | 4 | 5 |
Williams will be looking to improve upon those numbers as he goes, though the 22-year-old has plenty of room to grow further.
While it remains to be seen whether he could manage that in the Premier League, but there’s only one way for Arsenal to truly find out.
