Andrea Berta may have already found his Christian Norgaard replacement, despite only just signing star midfielder

Just after Arsenal’s plan to sign Christian Norgaard was revealed, the Gunners have been linked to another midfielder.

Thomas Partey will leave Arsenal as a free agent once his contract expires on June 30th. 

The news accompanied reports that the Gunners have agreed a deal with Brentford for Norgaard, who, at 31, offers five years of Premier League experience. 

After Jorginho’s exit to Flamengo, signing the Brentford captain seems smart, as it’s thought that the Dane will arrive to add depth, with Martin Zubimendi set to replace Partey in the starting XI. 

Sporting director Andrea Berta has 12 attacking names on his transfer wishlist, making the early moves for the two midfielders a surprise, and now, the Italian might have another trick up his sleeve.

Arsenal have enquired about Breno Bidon

Arsenal fans want to see an exciting forward arrive at the Emirates, which is set to happen as talks with Viktor Gyokeres continue alongside those with Benjamin Sesko. 

While the pair are put under the spotlight to determine the best fit for Mikel Arteta’s project, there’s another name on the transfer front emerging, and it’s not a striker. 

According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Arsenal are one of the clubs to have sent an enquiry about Corinthians starlet Breno Bidon. 

The report claims that the Brazilian side plan to sell the midfielder in the ‘next transfer window’, which, based on the footballing schedule in Brazil, points at a January opening.

As well as Arsenal, Wolves and Brighton admire the 20-year-old, with clubs from Germany, Italy and the Netherlands also eyeing a move.

Corinthians are suspected to want a fee in the region of £13m for the combative midfielder, who is likely to be sold to generate funds.

Links to the Brazil U20 international come at an interesting time, as Arsenal are in the process of sealing their second midfield signing of the summer.

Bidon could be the eventual heir to Christian Norgaard

Signing Norgaard is positive for Arsenal, as the experienced Dane replenishes the depth in the position following the exits of Jorginho and Partey. 

That being said, at 31, the midfielder can’t be considered a long-term solution for the Arsenal squad, which is where Bidon could come in handy. 

Berta acted proactively after Partey’s pending exit emerged, signing Norgaard to bolster the squad, and now, the Italian could do the same by signing Bidon as an eventual successor to the Brentford star. 

Bidon was promoted to Corinthians’ first team in 2024 and has since made 70 appearances for the Sao Paulo club at senior level.

With interest in the midfielder building, it will be fascinating to see where Arsenal fit in ahead of his proposed exit.
