Viktor Gyokeres is one of the names on Arsenal’s transfer shortlist ahead of the summer window.
The 2024/25 campaign was a disaster for Arsenal on the transfer front, welcoming five players in the summer who have largely underperformed.
Aside from Mikel Merino, David Raya and occasionally Riccardo Calafiori, the window was detrimental to the season, as Mikel Arteta’s demands were not met.
Though the Gunners have managed to exceed expectations despite Arsenal’s ongoing lengthy injury list, next season can’t be a repeat of failing to prepare.
With new sporting director Andrea Berta on board, Arteta will hope to make the necessary tweaks to his Arsenal squad, who will be desperate to win the Premier League title next term.

Chelsea plot to ‘interfere’ with Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal
Berta’s record of signing strikers has fans excited ahead of the summer, with a reliable goalscorer a non-negotiable once the window opens.
One player on the Italian’s radar is Viktor Gyokeres, who has been linked to Arsenal for some time.
Being a player with 47 domestic goals since the start of the 2024/25 calendar, it doesn’t take a genius to ponder why Arsenal want to sign Gyokeres, but there could be a problem.
In a new update, Portuguese outlet A Bola noted that while Arsenal are ‘in front’ of the race for the Sweden international, Chelsea could ‘interfere’.
A Bola described the North Londoners as being the ‘best placed club’ to sign Gyokeres, but said that the Blues could be tempted to get involved with a deal, just as they did to beat Manchester United to Geovany Quenda.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea were listed as two of several ‘preferred destinations’ in Gyokeres’ eyes, with the list also including Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Bayern Munich.
Andrea Berta will be eager to deliver Gyokeres
Arsenal need a striker, and right now, there are very few forwards as hot in form as Gyokeres.
Since joining Sporting CP from Coventry City in 2023, the Swede has netted 90 goals in 96 appearances, telling all that needs to be known about his clinical nature.
Aside from his form, Arsenal have another motive to sign him, as Berta is an admirer of Gyokeres, which could lead the Gunners to explore signing the talisman during the sporting director’s first window in charge.
Berta has orchestrated some of the biggest deals in recent European transfer history, and, in the case of Gyokeres, won’t be easily moved by Chelsea’s plot to interfere.
With Berta on side, Arsenal can fulfil their transfer wishes in the summer, with all eyes on who becomes Arteta’s new number nine.
