Arsenal and Chelsea in race to sign £83m ‘wonderkid’, he’s even younger than Ethan Nwaneri

Arsenal are now in the hunt to sign one exciting young attacking talent.

Mikel Arteta has been unafraid to put his faith in youth in his time as Arsenal manager.

Bukayo Saka has become a bona fide star under the Spanish coach’s guidance, and the manager also gave chances to the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Albert Sambi Lokonga, amongst others.

Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are now forging a place for themselves at the first team level. 

Nwaneri has dazzled Arsenal fans when he has been given an opportunity to strut his stuff for the senior side. Equally, Lewis-Skelly has demonstrated remarkable maturity when called upon by Arteta.

The 17-year-old duo will be hoping to firmly established themselves as trusted players at the Emirates Stadium this season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are now keeping tabs on another teenager who could have a huge impact in North London.

Arsenal eye transfer move for Geovany Quenda

Sporting teenager Geovany Quenda is now on the Gunners’ radar. The Portugal under-17 international is a huge talent who has caught the eye of top clubs across Europe.

As reported by Caught Offside: “Arsenal and Chelsea are among the numerous top clubs closely monitoring highly-rated Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Geovany Quenda, who could already cost as much as €100m.”

That €100 million figure equates to around £83 million – a remarkable price tag to have been attached to one so young. 

Who is Geovany Quenda?

Quenda was born in April 2007, whilst Nwaneri was born in March of the same year, making the Sporting ace even younger than the Hale End academy starlet.

Despite his youth, the winger has been a regular for the Portuguese outfit this season, making 13 appearances across all competitions so far, including 3 outings in the Champions League.

Could Quenda be the next Bukayo Saka?

Whilst he is comfortable operating on either flank, Quenda has primarily featured on the right wing throughout his short career so far. 

Like Saka, Quenda is left-footed, and tends to cut inside from wide on the right onto his stronger foot. Whilst he is obviously a far less complete player than the England international at this stage in his career, Quenda offers a strikingly similar profile to the Hale End academy graduate.

In time, Quenda could develop into a player capable of challenging Saka for his starting berth at Arsenal. However, is it hard to imagine Arteta sanctioning such an enormous financial outlay for a player so young and unproven.
