Arsenal are already preparing their plans for the transfer windows in 2025.
The Gunners have been very good on the market over the last few years. Mikel Arteta and Edu have brought in some excellent players, and barely anyone has been a flop in recent seasons.
Arsenal fans will be hoping for more in the next few windows, and if a report from Italy is to be believed, Arteta and Edu have set their sights on a prolific goalscorer.
What’s even better is that he will be available for Arsenal to sign on a free transfer.
Arsenal are in ‘front row’ to sign Jonathan David
Arsenal were on the market for a new striker in this summer’s transfer window.
The Gunners don’t have an out-and-out centre-forward who will guarantee them 25 or more goals every season. Many feel that’s the only thing stopping them from winning the Premier League title.
Arsenal tried to sign Benjamin Sesko but he rejected them and extended his contract at RB Leipzig instead.
Arteta and Edu decided to stick with what they have, but there is a feeling that will change in 2025 – either in January or in the summer.
TuttoJuve claim that Arsenal are joined by Juventus, Tottenham and Newcastle in the race to sign Lille striker Jonathan David.
The 24-year-old, described as ‘one of the best strikers in the world‘ by Canadian sports expert Tony Marinaro on X, has entered the final year of his contract, and he is expected to leave the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.
The report claims that Arsenal and the two other English clubs are in the ‘front row’ to sign David, who directly contributed to 35 goals in the 2023/24 season.
David is not the striker Arsenal should be targeting
David is a very good player and his numbers for Lille prove that.
The Canadian has directly contributed to 107 goals in 190 appearances, which is a very good return. The fact that he will be available on a free transfer makes him an even more attractive option.
However, Arsenal should be aiming for much higher in 2025. As good as David is, he is not a player who will transform the Gunners into the best team in the country.
In our opinion, the striker Arsenal should go all out to sign is Alexander Isak.
If Edu can get the Newcastle United star, we think Arteta’s side will instantly become the favourites to win the Premier League title.
However, unlike David, Isak will cost an absolute fortune.
