As the transfer deadline edges closer, it looks like Arsenal have missed out on yet another potential signing.
Despite early deadline signals pointing Arsenal towards the signing of Sandro Tonali, it looks like being a day of nothing for the Gunners in the end.
A number of names have been linked, with young players like James Wilson among the names mentioned.
Rank these Premier League midfielders, Arsenal could have two of them if Tonali signs 👀
However, another young player Arsenal have liked for a while – Rodrigo Mendoza – is now set to disappoint Andrea Berta by signing for Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal to miss out on Rodri Mendoza
Rodri Mendoza is one of the best young players in La Liga at the moment and there has been plenty of interest in him in recent months.
Arsenal have tracked Mendoza for some time but then at the same time, most of Spain have.

Now, according to Gianluca DiMarzio, it is Atletico Madrid who have won the race to sign Mendoza.
DiMarzio claims that a £16m deal has been agreed and that both Arsenal and Barcelona are among the disappointed parties.
Mendoza is expected to be unveiled as an Atletico player, with personal terms no issue.
Mendoza a name to keep tabs on for the future
While signing for Atletico Madrid is a big deal and Mendoza could well be a huge success there, he is that good that he’s someone we shouldn’t forget about.
If Mendoza is a complete success at Los Rojos Blancos, then it would be no surprise to see him linked again in the future.
Leon Goretzka to Arsenal – yes or no? Tell us why!
Arsenal have identified him for a reason and just because he’s now signing for Atletico doesn’t mean it’s game over for the Gunners.
Having made over 50 appearances already in the first-team at just 20, the sky seems to be the limit for Mendoza.
