Arsenal considering £40m international player with current first-teamer unhappy under Mikel Arteta

Arsenal are not expected to be overly busy during January but are still being linked with a potential replacement for Ben White.

White is currently out of favour under Mikel Arteta having lost his place to Jurrien Timber at right-back, while the arrivals and performances of Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera have pushed him down the pecking order at centre-half.

According to FootballTransfers, White is unhappy with the amount of minutes he is currently getting, leading to Arsenal considering their future at right-back.

In one sentence, tell us who Arsenal’s most improved player has been this season.

And according to that same report, it is another international defender on their radar.

Arsenal keeping tabs on Newcastle’s Tino Livramento

The Gunners are believed to be keeping an eye on Tino Livramento’s situation at Newcastle as the situation with White unfolds in front of them.

It’s claimed that Livramento is seen as an ideal candidate to come into the club and replace White, should the former Brighton ace look to leave.

Mikel Arteta is said to be a fan of the Newcastle and England ace, while Livramento’s ability to play both full-back positions also appeals.

Newcastle paid around £40m to land Livramento from Southampton back in 2023 and he’s since gone from strength to strength under Eddie Howe.

It must be stated, however, that no bid is being considered just yet, with a lot depending on just what White chooses to do.

Tino Livramento makes little sense for all parties

As Arsenal continue to build an excellent squad and with it, get players nailing down positions, so it will become harder to attract certain players.

While on paper, the signing of Livramento would be a good one and he improves the squad, the deal actually makes no sense for anyone.

For Newcastle, they lose a player who is vital to Eddie Howe and improving all the time. For Livramento himself, he effectively moves to a title-contender but knows he isn’t going to be first-choice.

As an Arsenal fan, sum up Ruben Amorim’s time at Man United in THREE words.

While for Arsenal, it would be another big outlay for another defender who, frankly, they don’t need at the moment.

Sure, if White does leave then there might be a space in the squad to fill. But even then, the Gunners have enough young talent to cope and really, could invest elsewhere.
