Arsenal fans have a lot to say after new Eddie Nketiah update, Edu Gaspar did something ‘amazing’

A new update over the future of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has now emerged, with the England International set to leave.

Arsenal rejected offers from Marseille in previous weeks, with Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar holding out for more than the £17m offered by the French side.

It then appeared that Marseille could have ended their interest as they pursued RC Lens striker Elye Wahi, which frustrated Arsenal fans as they believe that now is the best time for the out-of-favour attacker to leave, whilst his value is still high.

However, it has now been reported by David Ornstein that Arsenal are ready to sanction Nketiah’s exit, on an initial loan with an obligation to buy for €30m (£25.6m), and the striker has already agreed personal terms with Marseille.

Given that Dominic Solanke is set to move from Bournemouth to Tottenham for around £65m, some Arsenal fans may feel that Nketiah was worth a higher fee. However, many have praised Edu for being able to arrange this deal after it appeared to be on the brink of collapse.

Arsenal fans praise Edu Gaspar as Eddie Nketiah exit arranged

Arsenal fans have taken to X to praise the latest business from the club, which will see the club eventually earn £25m for a player with zero league starts in 2024.

“€30m for Nketiah. Edu Gaspar. Genius,” one fan posted.

“Loan with a €30m OBLIGATION is a great deal for Eddie Nketiah. There will likely be a loan fee on top of that, which will put Arsenal in a very strong financial position, with £100k per week off the wage bill and vital squad space for an attacker,” another fan pointed out.

“Nketiah being sold for €30m is amazing business. It’s also a lesson to everyone to be patient, Edu absolutely done the right thing here and we’ve got a great deal,” another fan posted in praise of Edu.

“£26m coming in for him if Marseille proceed, I’m happy with the deal, practically pays for Merino,” a fan pointed out with regard to the mooted deal for Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino.

Did Arsenal get a good fee for Eddie Nketiah?

Given that Nketiah had agreed personal terms with Marseille, Arsenal were in a position where they would have had to compromise with the French side.

The fee is lower than what Arsenal earned for Folarin Balogun last year, and when compared to the fee Bournemouth will receive for Solanke, there is an argument to suggest that he is worth more.

However, it still resembles pure profit for Arsenal next year, and given that Nketiah failed to start in 2024, it is a substantial fee for a substitute option.

Arsenal will hope to add a sell-on clause, in the event that Nketiah thrives in France under Roberto De Zerbi.
