Arsenal handed boost as £69m transfer target could now be available in January

Arsenal have been linked with several wingers ahead of the January transfer window, and Federico Chiesa of Juventus is target who could now become available.

Pedro Neto of Wolves has also been linked, with Mikel Arteta seemingly keen on adding more pace to his squad.

Chiesa was linked in recent months, but a deal did not look realistic. However, it has now emerged that Juventus could sanction a sale in the January window to address their sticky financial situation.

Juventus could sell Federico Chiesa in January

A report from The Express has now claimed that Juventus are open to selling Chiesa, should they receive an offer of around £69m, and Arsenal are keeping an eye on him.

Liverpool are also keen, and should Arsenal make a move for the 26-year-old, they would face stiff competition from Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Juventus are desperate for funds as they urgently need to recruit midfielders, with Paul Pogba and Nicolas Fagioli now serving long-term bans.

Chiesa has scored five times and assisted twice in 15 Serie A appearances this season, and can play on the wings as well as through the middle as a striker or advanced midfielder.

Should Arsenal move for Federico Chiesa?

All indications point towards Arsenal targeting loan deals, and prioritising a defender in the January transfer window.

With this in mind, alongside Juventus’ need for an instant cash injection, a deal to bring Chiesa to the Emirates in the winter window looks highly unlikely.

However, if he is to remain at Juventus until the summer, he could emerge as an option for Arsenal again.

Leandro Trossard has been inconsistent this season, and Arteta has been reluctant to give Reiss Nelson significant game time. Gabriel Martinelli has been off-form, and another winger could add extra speed to the Arsenal squad off the bench.

Chiesa could be an excellent option in this regard. The Italian is coming into his prime years, has plenty of top-level experience and a strong goalscoring record from wide positions for both Fiorentina and Juventus.

He would add speed across the front line, and could provide rotational cover for Bukayo Saka on the right wing, with the Englishman rarely rested by Arteta despite fans’ concerns over his workload.

If Chiesa is eventually interested in a move to Arsenal over Liverpool, he is a player worth considering in the future, but a move in January seems unfeasible for now.
