Arsenal have been very busy in this summer transfer window already.
We’re not even in August yet and Arsenal have signed no fewer than six new players.
Viktor Gyokeres is the latest signing to arrive at Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta’s side may not be done there.
Indeed, Arsenal also want Eberechi Eze, and according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on Men in Blazers, the Crystal Palace star is now the Gunners’ top target.
Not only is Eze Arsenal’s top target, the north London club are said to believe the England international is the ‘perfect’ player to add to their squad now.

Eberechi Eze seen as the ‘perfect’ signing
Romano spoke about Arsenal’s interest in Eberechi Eze.
The journalist says that the England ace is now Arsenal’s top target, and those within the Emirates actually consider Eze to be the perfect player to add to this team.
“But the top target now is going to be Eberechi Eze because they are in contact with his agents. They spoke to the players several times, players camp several times, and Eze is very tempted by this opportunity. They still didn’t speak to Crystal Palace, so let’s see how this conversation will go in August,” Romano said.
“We all know how complicated it is to negotiate with Palace. There is a release close, so it’s not going to be an easy one at all. But Arsenal will try.”
“I think Arsenal will try, because they like the player. He’s considered the perfect player to add to their squad. Don’t forget that they also extended the contract of Ethan Nwaneri and it was not easy at all.”
Eberechi Eze’s stats as a left winger
If Eze signs for Arsenal, he may well be joining the Gunners as a left winger.
Indeed, while Eze is a natural number 10, Martin Odegaard has nailed down that position and is the club captain at Arsenal.
However, questions have been asked of Gabriel Martinelli down the left wing, and many believe Eze would be an upgrade on Martinelli.
Eze has played down the left on numerous occasions in the past, but his record as a left winger isn’t exactly incredible.
| Eberechi Eze’s stats as a left winger | |
| Games | 33 |
| Goals | 6 |
| Assists | 6 |
Six goals and six assists in 33 matches isn’t amazing, in comparison, Martinelli had eight goals and four assists in 33 games in the Premier League last season.
Of course, in a new team and a new system, Eze may step up and improve in this role, but, so far in his career, he hasn’t played his best football off the left.
