Myles Lewis-Skelly has had an amazing season at Arsenal.

The teenager was still in the academy this time last year, but after a successful pre-season in the United States, Mikel Arteta decided to promote him to the first team.

Injuries opened the door for Lewis-Skelly to get opportunities, and the youngster hasn’t looked back since. He has been phenomenal and has cemented himself as the club’s first-choice left back now.

That seems to have changed Arsenal’s transfer plans for this summer’s window.

Arsenal’s interest in Jorrel Hato has cooled because of Myles Lewis-Skelly

Jorrel Hato has been on Arsenal’s radar for well over a year now.

The talented Dutchman has been one of Ajax’s best players over the last 18 months, and he is of interest to several clubs across Europe.

Arsenal were one of the first clubs to show interest in Hato, and with the likes of Kieran Tierney, Oleksandr Zinchenko and potentially even Jakub Kiwior leaving this summer, the youngster could’ve been an option.

However, CaughtOffside have claimed that Chelsea are the club leading the race to sign Hato in the summer transfer window.

It has been revealed that Arsenal’s interest in the Ajax man has ‘cooled’ because of the emergence of Lewis-Skelly at left-back, who has been sensational there – even against clubs like Real Madrid.

The report claims that Chelsea have opened talks to sign Hato, who is expected to cost a fee in the region of €55 million (£46m).

Liverpool are the other side interested in Hato, but their move depends on what happens in the Milos Kerkez deal they are trying to secure.

Should Arsenal sign Jorrel Hato despite Lewis-Skelly’s emergence?

Hato is a phenomenal talent, and the fact that he can play as a left-back as well as on the left side of central defence makes him a very attractive option.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has made the left-back role his own, but the teenager is naturally a central midfielder, and many see his future there.

That opens the door for an argument that Hato should be considered, but the Gunners have other priorities in the upcoming summer window.

Spending over £46 million on a player who will come in as a backup makes very little sense, as the same money can be used to sign players in other important roles.

As good as Hato is, Arsenal are right to cool their interest in him.
