Mikel Arteta would be wise to listen to Thierry Henry as transfer speculation is growing around Arsenal.
While we are only 11 games into the 2024/25 Premier League season, attention will soon turn to the January transfer window.
Arsenal were busy in the summer transfer window, welcoming five players and seeing several depart both permanently and on loan.
Further change is expected in the winter given Arsenal’s struggling form, with one potential target already sounded out.
Arsenal target January loan move for Arda Guler
Arteta will be satisfied with the signings he made in the summer however, it’s already clear that a lot is missing from the Arsenal squad.
One of the most glaring issues is lack of depth, highlighted by injuries to key players including captain Martin Odegaard.
Such struggle could come to an end in January, as Spanish outlet Sport report that Arsenal are eyeing a loan transfer to acquire Real Madrid starlet Arda Guler.
Sport claim that Arsenal ‘see’ the Turkey international as a ‘case similar’ to Odegaard, with a possible rescue mission underway to bring the teenager to the Emirates in January.
The Gunners signed Odegaard on an initial loan from Real Madrid, which could be repeated in 2025 with Guler the young player on the radar this time.
While the attacking midfielder’s talent can’t be denied, his game time at the Bernabeu is limited due to significant competition, opening the door to a potential exit.

Reviews on the budding superstar aren’t overly necessary given how impactful the rumoured Arsenal target was on the international stage during Euro 2024.
That being said, opinion from big names are certainly a boost, with the Gunners already aware that Mesut Ozil is a fan of Guler.
Ozil isn’t the only former Gunner to be in awe of the Real Madrid jewel, with Thierry Henry a fellow supporter of the Turkey international’s charm.
During CBS Sports coverage of the 2024 Champions League final [01/06/2024], Henry sent a concise message about Guler that Arteta must pay attention to.
“Don’t underestimate Arda Guler,” the Arsenal legend said.
“He [Guler] finished the season very well. He made a name for himself on the scene,” Henry explained, calling for viewers to keep track of the teenager’s progression.
The creative midfielder is highly rated in Europe and could be a smart acquisition for Arsenal, with the foundations there for Arteta to make a move.
