Arsenal need a winger, but it’s unlikely to be one of Bradley Barcola or Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as neither are in a position to leave Paris Saint-Germain.
Ask Arsenal fans who their dream transfer target in the summer would be, and many would name one of Kvaratskhelia or Barcola.
In recent days, transfer links between Kvaratskhelia and Arsenal have grown as Andrea Berta’s hunt for a new left-sider continues.
Arsenal actually missed out on signing Kvaratskhelia when he first left his homeland of Georgia to play in Europe’s elite leagues, and now, it looks as though history will repeat itself to a degree.
Arsenal need to make one major sale this summer. Who are you selling and for how much?
Odegaard, White, Martinelli or someone else?
PSG do not want to sell Khvicha Kvaratskhelia or Bradley Barcola amid rumoured Arsenal transfer interest
As rumours began to grow and circulate, trusted Arsenal insider Hand of Arsenal took to X to provide some clarity.
It’s understood that ‘from Kvaratskhelia’s perspective’, there’s no desire to leave PSG, noting that the winger has never expressed a willingness to leave the club and ‘feels great’.
Based on that insight, Kvaratskhelia to Arsenal seems out of reach, and sadly, the same applies to fellow target, Barcola.
Which left winger would you most like to see Andrea Berta prioritise in 2026?
“PSG is still working on Barcola’s contract extension and hasn’t considered letting any of its wingers go,” Hand of Arsenal informed.
It has to be said that the Kvaratskhelia news is more of a blow, as it’s unclear whether Barcola would be a significant upgrade on Arsenal’s current options.
Still, Barcola’s remarkably high ceiling naturally makes him a luxury target, but for the Gunners, it might just be that the idea of signing the Frenchman remains a fantasy.
Andrea Berta needs to help Mikel Arteta break his Arsenal transfer curse
For all of the success that Berta’s first summer transfer window at Arsenal brought, it’s clearer than ever that a top-quality winger is needed next.
The issue is that acquiring one is easier said than done, as Mikel Arteta’s record of purchasing in the wide areas shows.
What player does Andrea Berta sign next to improve this list?
It’s fair to say that the left wing has been let down since Arteta arrived at Arsenal, and given where the Gunners now are, something has to give.
It’s why Arsenal fans are worried about transfer links to Anthony Gordon, who, with four league goals this season, represents another underwhelming name to add to the list.
The 2026 summer transfer window is all about revamping the left side of attack for Arsenal, but with Barcola and Kvaratskhelia out, who is in?
