Arsenal fans have been dreaming about a seventh signing in this window, and many want it to be Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace.
The Gunners have filled the void they had in several areas of their squad already, but they could still do with one or two more signings to make it the perfect transfer window.
Eze has his heart set on a move to Arsenal, over a decade after the Gunners released him when he was part of the academy.
However, Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta may have changed their minds.
Arsenal may not sign Eberechi Eze for one reason
Arsenal are desperate to win the Premier League title in the upcoming campaign.
The Gunners have finished second in each of the last three seasons, and many, including Mark Clattenburg, feel Arsenal will become the champions in 2025/26.
However, the Gunners suffered defeats against Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal recently, and their left flank was an area of serious concern in both games.
That could be why Arsenal are pivoting away from Eze and focusing on a natural left-winger who would be an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli as well as Leandro Trossard.

That’s what Miguel Delaney has been hearing recently. He said on the Football Daily podcast: “I think it’s pretty much common knowledge that his (Eze’s) first choice would be Arsenal.
“Yeah, that deal is there to be done because of the release clause, because I suppose, Arsenal know how they could structure a deal. They have been thinking about how to do it.
“They haven’t gone all in yet. Last week, the talk was that they want to sell first. I suppose they want to be kind of very comfortable in PSR. Arsenal see themselves as a very responsible club in that way.
“And then suddenly, in the last few days, there’s been a little bit of talk about how Arsenal may prefer a left winger more.”
Should Arsenal sign Eberechi Eze or a left-winger?
The ideal answer would be ‘both’, but that is extremely unlikely to happen.
Eze would be a great signing for the Gunners as he would offer something that they don’t currently have in their squad – unpredictability.
However, reluctantly, we feel that Arteta and Berta must prioritise an out-and-out left-winger as that side of their pitch has looked really weak throughout pre-season.
Arsenal should go all out for someone like Rafael Leao or Rodrygo Goes in the coming weeks – if those moves don’t materialise, Eze will have to be the one.
