Arsenal are hoping to add an explosive winger to their ranks this summer.
Arsenal have interest in Kaoru Mitoma after the Japanese international impressed since his arrival in the Premier League.
Nico Williams is Mikel Arteta’s dream signing for the position but the Spanish superstar is reportedly in negotiations over a new contract at Athletic Bilbao and there are concerns over his wage demands.
Ray Parlour prefers Gabriel Martinelli over Rodrygo but it appears that Andrea Berta has the Real Madrid man in his sights and Xabi Alonso has just given Arsenal a major boost in their pursuit.

Rodrygo not included in Xabi Alonso’s preferred Real Madrid team
Arsenal have made contact with Rodrygo but the finances involved mean that it is a deal that will prove difficult to seal but not impossible.
Arteta likes Rodrygo and feels the Brazilian can add another dimension to his attack next season, whereas the new Real Madrid boss doesn’t see him fitting into his best XI.
A player of Rodrygo’s calibre will want to be playing regular first-team football and with the arrival of Franco Mastantuono, the 24-year-old is slipping further down the Madrid pecking order.
The Gunners will know that their offer of becoming a key player at the Emirates Stadium could persuade the player to make the switch to North London.
Where Rodrygo would play for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal
Rodrygo has played most of his football as a right winger for Real Madrid however, there is the expectation that should he move to Arsenal, the player would be used on the left.
Bukayo Saka is Arteta’s number one choice to play on the right flank and the Gunners boss also has Ethan Nwaneri who can deputise in that position.
| Records this season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Rodrygo | 51 | 14 | 10 |
| Saka | 37 | 12 | 14 |
| Nwaneri | 37 | 9 | 2 |
| Martinelli | 51 | 10 | 6 |
| Trossard | 56 | 10 | 10 |
Arsenal’s weakness has been on the left flank where Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have both struggled to hit a consistent run of form and become regulars in that position.
With 14 goals in all competitions this season and a previous Champions League winner, Arsenal would certainly be acquiring the firepower they need to get them over the line for silverware next campaign.
