Arsenal’s top targets in the summer transfer window are becoming clearer, with Rodrygo one of those on Andrea Berta’s radar.
The Real Madrid winger faces an uncertain future and is aiming to be proactive as a result.
Rodrygo wants to discuss plans with Xabi Alonso before making a decision on his transfer status.
Over in North London, Rodrygo is being watched closely by Arsenal, who are in the market to sign a wide player in preparation for the 2025/26 campaign.

How Mikel Arteta feels about Rodrygo to Arsenal transfer
Arsenal have made contact with Rodrygo, who has not been able to show his absolute best at the Bernabeu due to his position.
The Selecao star operates best as a left winger, being a right-footed player, but has had to settle for the right side due to Vinicius Junior’s steep rise.
Talk of Rodrygo’s favoured position is why he might be best suited to Arsenal, but other Premier League clubs are paying attention to his uncertain future.
In a fresh update, The Athletic revealed how the Gunners feel about the possibility of signing Rodrygo, with Mikel Arteta’s stance now emerging.
The Athletic noted that the Gunners ‘like Rodrygo and feel he can add another dimension to their attack’, as journalist Mario Cortegana uncovered how the Arsenal manager feels.
On X, Cortegana revealed that Arteta is ‘convinced’ that Rodrygo would ‘have a big role’ at the Emirates.
Though Arteta is clearly charmed by the Brazilian, there is set to be a waiting game, as neither Rodrygo’s family nor his agent wish to enter negotiations until his future at Real Madrid is clarified.

Gabriel Martinelli will be impacted if Rodrygo joins Arsenal
There was another narrative in The Athletic’s report, as Rodrygo’s desire to ‘feel important’ was raised.
The Brazil international wants to feel valued, which could go hand in hand with him playing his favoured position.
Rodrygo ‘feels most comfortable’ on the left, and Arsenal could use such to lure him to the Emirates, particularly after Gabriel Martinelli’s frustrating season.
Though Martinelli impressed over the 2022/23 campaign, the winger hasn’t reached such highs since, with interest in Rodrygo symbolising that the Gunners are aware of the need for an upgrade.
Martinelli has competed with Rodrygo before in the Brazilian national team, so he knows the feeling, with the 23-year-old’s position at Arsenal set to be impacted if his compatriot signs.
For now, the Gunners will wait to learn the outcome of their target’s discussion with Alonso, who could open the door to his exit this summer.
