Arsenal are scouting several young talents across Europe, and RB Salzburg attacking midfielder Oscar Gloukh has now emerged as a target.

The 19-year-old has been sensational for RB Salzburg this season, scoring six and assisting seven times in 26 appearances.

Arsenal have been linked with several young midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window including Ezequiel Fernandez of Boca Juniors, as they look set to sell the injury-prone Thomas Partey, whilst Mohamed Elneny is out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Gloukh is now the latest name on Arsenal’s radar, and it is easy to see why they want him.

A report from Football Transfers has now revealed that Arsenal are actively scouting Gloukh as they eye up attack-minded midfielders in the event that one of Fabio Vieira or Emile Smith Rowe makes a surprise departure in the summer.

Gloukh is admired as someone who could fit into Arsenal’s style of play, and provide creativity from the middle of the park, as well as extra cover for Martin Odegaard.

The teenager joined RB Salzburg for around £6m from Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2022, and he also attracted interest from Barcelona.

Gloukh has surprisingly notched up more goals and assists than Odegaard this season, with the Arsenal captain totalling 11 in all competitions compared to Gloukh’s 13, in three less games.

The midfielder is thriving in the Austrian Bundesliga, and is just shy of Arsenal loanee Mika Biereth when it comes to big chances created among under-21 European players.

Gloukh has been described as “extraordinary” by his former manager Peter Stoger, and was even compared to Lionel Messi for his style of play, as a player with supreme technical ability and a low centre of gravity.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will pursue him this summer or are merely scouting him for the future, but he is currently one of Europe’s top young talents and there will be no shortage of competition for his signature.

Arsenal may not need another attacking midfielder right now unless there is a departure, but even if they are able to secure his future and loan him out, it could be worth securing such a top talent for the future if it become financially viable to do so in the summer.
