Ally McCoist has urged Arsenal to not make a move to sign Wolves winger Pedro Neto.

The Gunners have been linked with plenty of players in this window, and Neto is one of them. He has been on our radar for years, but McCoist thinks he adds nothing to this Arsenal side.

Ally McCoist tells Arsenal not to sign Pedro Neto

We’re 18 days into the January transfer window, and nothing is going on at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta‘s side could do with reinforcements at left-back, central midfield, right-wing and up front, but no move looks likely at this stage.

Pedro Neto is one player we would really love at Arsenal. He has been brilliant for Wolves in the Premier League for a few years now, and HITC Football’s Graeme Bailey has revealed this week that Arsenal definitely like him.

However, talkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist believes a move for Neto makes no sense as Arsenal already have players who do the same thing he does.

He said about Neto: “Great player. (But) He’s not what they need. They have a lot of similar players to Neto.

“Is he a good player? Yes. Can he move to a bigger club? Yes. Will it be Arsenal? No.”

Pedro Neto would actually be a good signing for Arsenal

We disagree with Ally McCoist here – we actually think Arsenal need a player like Pedro Neto.

The Gunners have no like-for-like alternative to Bukayo Saka on the right wing. That’s why Mikel Arteta rarely ever gives him a break, which is not ideal at all.

A player like Neto would be the perfect backup for Saka, and the fact that he can play on the opposite side as well makes him a great option for us to have.

For those still not convinced, even Thierry Henry is a big fan of Neto. “I like him a lot,” he said in 2021.

“What I like is he’s not scared to beat people on the outside. I like it. He can cross with his right, finish with his left.”

“He’s always looking to have a go and attack the defender – always on the front foot. It’s not easy to do this at such a young age, in a team where you’re not often in possession and dominating games. I think he’s performed extremely well.”
