Arsenal’s summer transfer business could take another twist, dependent on the future of midfielder Thomas Partey.

Partey’s contract at Arsenal expires this summer, putting doubt on whether he will stay or leave at the end of the season.

Andrea Berta is in talks with Partey over a contract extension, with some hope that the Ghanaian international will commit to staying at Arsenal.

However, should he leave, the Gunners are already drafting contingency plans surrounding possible replacements.

That includes a move for one young Chelsea star, who could switch blue for red, moving to the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal.

Arsenal want Chelsea youngster Andrey Santos in a transfer switch

Arsenal are set to sign Martin Zubimendi this summer as part of their midfield rebuild that will occur in the weeks ahead.

The Spaniard is set to replace Jorginho, who will leave Arsenal at the end of his contract, bolstering the central ranks.

The future of Thomas Partey is still up in the air, which means potential replacements are on the cards for Arsenal.

Sverre Nypan has been linked with the Gunners as a younger option, but he has also been rumoured to have interest from elsewhere.

He is seemingly not the only one on the radar, though, as Le10 Sport reports that Chelsea youngster Andrey Santos is an option for the club.

It’s claimed that the Brazilian is of serious interest to Arsenal, who are “hard at work” trying to bring him to the north side of London.

Santos is currently on loan at Strasbourg in Ligue 1, part of the multi-club model at Chelsea, and he has impressed.

Liam Rosenior has praised Arsenal transfer target Andrey Santos

Andrey Santos has impressed while on loan at Strasbourg, becoming one of Ligue 1’s best midfielders in the process.

“He’s Brazilian, but he doesn’t play like one,” Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior said. “He’s so smart and his stats are through the roof, in terms of scoring goals, winning duels. He plays like he’s 32 years old.”

All of those elements could be of use to Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal team, in the same way it has been for Strasbourg.

The club currently sit sixth in Ligue 1 and are chasing down a place in the Europa League next season.
