According to German outlet Fussball Transfers, Borussia Dortmund are now keen to sign Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi this summer.
The controversial Frenchman was a real star at the Emirates after a phenomenal debut season under Unai Emery. Everyone viewed him as the future of Arsenal’s midfield, but a fall-out with Mikel Arteta changed everything.
Guendouzi hasn’t played a game for Arsenal since June 2020. He was shipped out on loan to Hertha Berlin last summer, and it’s almost certain that he will be sold to an overseas club in the coming weeks.

Multiple reports have claimed that Ligue 1 giants Marseille are in advanced negotiations to sign the former Lorient man. It almost looked imminent at one point, but Guendouzi could well find himself at a Champions League club very soon.
Borussia Dortmund have started talks with Matteo Guendouzi
The report claims that the BVB have already started talks with Guendouzi’s agents over a summer move. Dortmund would’ve seen the Frenchman perform at Hertha last season and it looks like they’ve been really impressed.
However, the report also reveals that Guendouzi has agreed a deal with Marseille already. That complicates a deal for Dortmund, but if it was up to Arsenal, the highest bidder can take the midfielder away from the Emirates.

Unlike Marseille, Dortmund will be in the Champions League next season. That is an attractive proposition for every player, and the Germans certainly have more money than Les Phoceens, which could play into Arsenal’s hands.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out. The relationship between Arteta and Guendouzi doesn’t look like it can be repaired. That almost confirms that he will be sold this summer, which is a real shame.
If Guendouzi changes his ways, he could be a real star for Arsenal. Labelled as a ‘very impressive‘ player by Big Sam Allardyce, the Frenchman has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the world, but sadly, his attitude could ruin it for him.
