Arsenal are now really interested in signing one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.

The Gunners announced the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna recently, and he is their second signing of the summer after David Raya’s loan was turned into a permanent deal.

Arsenal’s focus is now on a new midfielder, but there is still some interest in reinforcing their attack ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season.

Many Arsenal fans are begging for a new striker, and if reports are to be believed, the Premier League runners-up have identified a goalscoring machine as a potential target.

How much Arsenal are ready to bid to sign Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres was one of the best strikers in the world in the 2023/24 season.

The Sweden international, who only joined Sporting Lisbon in 2023, scored a staggering 43 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions.

That is a better return than any Arsenal player managed last season, which is probably why Mikel Arteta is eyeing a move to sign him.

Football Transfers have shared the latest on the situation.

Gyokeres has a release clause in his contract worth an eye-watering €100 million (~£85m). At the start of the window, Sporting were adamant that they would not accept anything less.

However, the report claims that the Portuguese side’s stance has softened.

Sporting are open to accepting a bid for Gyokeres in the region of €70 million (£60m) this summer after they reached an agreement to reduce the sell-on clause percentage that they had agreed with Coventry City when they signed him.

Arteta is interested in Gyokeres, who we think is Arsenal’s most realistic target, and the report claims that they are ready to pay €60 million (£52m) to sign him this summer.

If the deal goes through, that would rank Gyokeres fifth in the list of Arsenal’s most-expensive signing of all time after Declan Rice, Nicolas Pepe, Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

What would Gyokeres bring to Arsenal?

Gyokeres is a complete striker.

The Swede is excellent with his back to goal, can link play up very well, and is a joy for players around him to play with. He is very clinical inside the box and his movement is brilliant too.

To add to all of the above, Gyokeres is a real threat in the air as well, which makes him a handful for opposition defenders to deal with.

Arsenal are right to target Gyokeres this summer, and if they can get him for a reasonable price, we think he will be a success at the Emirates Stadium.

However, it remains to be seen if Sporting will be open to selling him for around £52 million in the coming weeks.
