Arsenal may have just one suitable option left on the market as they continue their search to sign a new striker this summer.

The Gunners came ever so close to winning the Premier League title in the 2023/24 season. They took the title race to the last day of the campaign and fell just two points short in the end.

At that point, many fans and pundits were of the opinion that Arsenal lost the title because they did not have a prolific goalscorer at the top end of the pitch.

Numerous reports have since claimed that Arsenal are on the market for a new striker, but Mikel Arteta doesn’t have a plethora of options to choose from now.

Arsenal running out of striker options as Victor Osimhen could go to Chelsea

Victor Osimhen was always expected to be a wanted man this summer.

The Nigeria international has a pact with Napoli to let him leave for the right price. However, so far, no club has shown any willingness to trigger his release clause.

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Osimhen, but the Gunners have no interest in breaking their transfer record to land him.

As a result, Napoli now appear to be budging on their demands, but their new stance only favours one London club – Chelsea.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on X that Napoli are now open to including Osimhen in a swap deal that would see Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku moving to Naples.

There has even been speculation over Osimhen joining Chelsea on loan for the 2024/25 season, which would be an incredible deal if the Blues can pull it off.

As for Arsenal, this all but rules out a move from Arteta and Edu to sign Osimhen this summer.

Arsenal have one realistic striker target left

The striker Arteta wanted to sign this summer was Benjamin Sesko, but he rejected Arsenal and decided to stay at RB Leipzig instead.

Since then, Arsenal have been linked with quite a few strikers, but it looks like Osimhen is no longer an option for the Gunners either.

That leaves just one target Arsenal can realistically sign this summer – Viktor Gyokeres.

The ‘Swedish goal machine‘ scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon in the 2023/24 season. That is an unbelievable return for a striker.

Arsenal have been linked with Gyokeres, and we think he is the only suitable option on the market right now if Arteta and Edu decide to sign a new striker in this window.

Whether the Premier League runners-up will make a move for Gyokeres, however, remains to be seen considering he has a release clause worth £85 million (Football London).
