It is no secret that Arsenal would love to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
The Gunners have been in need of a prolific striker for a few years now – since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club.
Yes, Gabriel Jesus is back scoring again and Kai Havertz has done well up top, but to have the best chance of winning the Premier League and Champions League, they need a world-class striker.
Isak would be great, but there’s some mixed news coming Arsenal’s way now.
Alexander Isak’s transfer stance amid Arsenal links
Recently, Troy Deeney claimed that Arsenal would win the Premier League if they signed Isak in the January transfer window.
That is a bold statement, but we agree with him.
Isak has been brilliant for Newcastle this season. He has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 15 Premier League games, which is a great return.
Arsenal fans would love nothing more than to see Isak signed in the winter window, but there is bad news for Gooners on that front.
Ben Jacobs has revealed that the Swede is currently ‘invested at Newcastle’ and his ‘short-to-medium term’ plan is to stay there.
However, there is some good news. The journalist has claimed that Isak’s long-term plan is to move to a Champions League club in England – Arsenal check that box.
Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “I mean, Arsenal’s dream priority is Alexander Isak, and I’m still told that he would like to join a Champions League club and stay in the Premier League in the long run.
“But of course, in the short-to-medium term, he’s on fire for Newcastle United. He’s invested at Newcastle, and he’s well contracted at Newcastle, so they aren’t worried about necessarily losing Isak imminently, nor do they feel they absolutely have to agree a new contract with him because he remains healthily contracted.
“So it’s a bit of a dream target for Arsenal.”

Arsenal may have to sacrifice their January plan just for Isak
Reinforcements in the January transfer window do seem like a necessity.
With Manchester City almost out of the picture, this could be the best chance for Arsenal to win the Premier League title. A new striker in January could give them the boost they need.
However, if Isak will definitely be available in the summer, we think Arsenal should wait for him instead of spending big on someone else in the winter window.
A move for a wide player in January would make a lot more sense, especially with Bukayo Saka’s injury keeping him out for the next two months.
It remains to be seen what Arsenal will do, but we think Isak is worth the wait.
