Arsenal have a lot of work to do to accomplish their dream of winning the Premier League title.

The Gunners started the campaign as one of the favourites to win the English crown. Many people expected the title race to be between Mikel Arteta’s side and Manchester City.

However, Liverpool have emerged as the surprise frontrunners now, and they are six points ahead of Arsenal already despite playing a game fewer.

Arteta needs to find a way to get ahead of Liverpool, and Troy Deeney thinks one signing in January will make the difference. But, it is unlikely.

Troy Deeney says Arsenal will win the Premier League if they sign Alexander Isak

Arsenal need to reinforce their attack in the January transfer window.

Bukayo Saka has suffered an injury that is set to keep him out of action for many weeks. He may not return until February, which is a huge blow.

Arteta claimed he has five options at Arsenal to replace Saka – two of those would involve moving the striker out wide.

That, again, would leave the Gunners short of options in attack, so a new centre-forward in the winter window would solve a lot of problems.

Deeney has already suggested Alexander Isak to Arsenal. Now, the former Watford captain has claimed that the North Londoners will win definitely the Premier League if they sign the £63 million Newcastle star.

After naming Isak in his Team of the Week, Deeney wrote on BBC Sport: “The best striker in English football currently. The one who, if Arsenal signed him, they would win the league and everyone else would be in trouble.

“But they won’t do that because Newcastle need him and he is too important for them. Newcastle need to spend more money in and around him though or else he will end up moving to one of the big, big clubs.”

What should Arsenal’s priority be in January – a new striker or a right-winger?

Arteta and Arsenal’s recruitment team must be in a dilemma now.

The Gunners were never expected to be active in the winter window, but if there’s one signing that they desperately need, it’s a new striker.

Many people were hoping for that, but following Saka’s serious hamstring injury, Arsenal have a big hole on the right flank as well.

We don’t know what Arteta will decide to do, but if it were up to us, we would go all out for a new striker in the January transfer window.

Yes, Saka has left a huge void to fill, but the biggest problem Arsenal have had is the lack of a prolific striker up top who will guarantee 25 or 30 goals a season.

If Arsenal can land a new number nine like Isak in January, we think Arteta should prioritise that over a backup for Saka, who could be back as early as February.
