Arsenal should consider bargain deal for ‘extraordinary’ winger, Arsene Wenger tried to sign him

Arsenal are in the market for another attacker in the summer transfer window as they look to add speed to their front line, and they have been linked with a lot of players.

Interest in Euro 2024 sensation Nico Williams proved fruitless as the winger opted to stay at Athletic Bilbao, and Mikel Arteta is now on the lookout for alternative solutions.

Arsenal need a game-changer in attack, as well as someone who could rotate with Bukayo Saka. This means that a winger who can play on both sides, and add speed in transitions would be ideal.

Whilst moves for strikers such as Alexander Isak or Viktor Gyokeres appear too expensive, Arsenal will hope to seize upon any market opportunity that appears in the next few weeks, and one potential target is now available in a remarkably cheap deal.

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman is available on loan

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman is available on a loan with a buy option clause.

“Bayern are now open to Kingsley Coman exit on an initial loan with buy clause. Bayern need outgoings to complete new signings… and Coman’s one of the club’s top earners,” he posted on X.

Coman’s injury record is a red flag when it comes to a permanent transfer, but if a loan deal with an option to buy can be agreed, Arsenal could do much worse than signing the 28-year-old this summer.

Kingsley Coman could solve several Arsenal problems

Coman has made 294 appearances for Bayern Munich over the years, scoring 63 times and providing 66 assists.

He is one of the most decorated players in Europe, with League titles at Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus under his belt, and he also scored the winner in the 2020 Champions League final.

The Frenchman can play on both wings, meaning that he could cover for Saka or play alongside him, and would also add pace, a goal threat and experience to Arsenal’s attack.

Coman is a phenomenal player at his best, and his talent was spotted years ago by none other than Arsene Wenger.

In 2015, Arsene Wenger revealed that Arsenal were on the verge of signing Coman from PSG in 2014, before he moved to Juventus.

“We really tried to sign Kingsley Coman in the summer of 2014,” Wenger stated.

“The transfer was almost completed, but he preferred Juventus.”

Coman was a huge success at Bayern when fit, and was described as “extraordinary” by teammate Thomas Mulller.

Coman went on to win countless trophies at Juventus and Bayern, but is looking for a fresh start elsewhere, and if Arteta brings him to the Emirates, he could use his title-winning experience to help Arsenal get over the line next season.

If he is available on loan, this would be a risk-free deal, but his injury record, which plagued him last season as he made just 17 Bundesliga appearances, would perhaps mean a big-money permanent deal this summer is out of the question.
