Benjamin Sesko is the striker Arsenal want to sign before the winter window shuts.
The Gunners have been keen to sign a new forward for a while now, and the injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have made it their biggest priority.
The North Londoners have been looking around for options in the winter window, and Arsenal Insider exclusively revealed that Arsenal have made contact to sign Sesko.
However, there could be some bad news now.
Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko’s message on Instagram
Just before Arsenal’s clash against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Sesko was in action.
The striker’s RB Leipzig side took on Sporting Lisbon in Germany, and they ended up winning the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Sesko himself and Yussuf Poulsen.
The Slovenia international had a fine game up front, and his impressive performance even got him the Player of the Match Award.
Arsenal fans watching that game would’ve been hoping that Sesko would be on the flight to London soon to don the famous red and white.
However, if his Instagram message is anything to go by, it looks like he wants to stay at Leipzig.
After hailing how special Champions League nights are, Sesko wrote in his post: “We go together! @rbleipzig”
The 21-year-old even tagged the agency that represents him right below that three-word message, which further hints that he wants to be ‘together’ with RB Leipzig beyond the end of this window.
Another Arsenal target proved he’s just as good as Sesko
Sesko played the full 90 minutes against Sporting on Wednesday, and his performance definitely deserved the Player of the Match award.
However, he wasn’t the only striker who impressed.
Fellow Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres came on as a substitute against Leipzig for the final 35 minutes, and he scored a wonderful goal.
| Games | Goals | Assists | |
| Benjamin Sesko | 32 | 34 | 6 |
| Viktor Gyokeres | 26 | 14 | 3 |
Sesko’s ceiling is higher because of his age, but Gyokeres has scored some big goals for Sporting since the start of last season, and his performance off the bench against Leipzig showed that he can do what the Slovenian did in much less time.
If Sesko doesn’t want to join Arsenal, Arteta should seriously consider a move to sign Gyokeres.
