Arsenal have again been linked with Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt in recent days, but the German is unlikely to move in the January transfer window.

The Gunners were linked with the 27-year-old in 2021 but a deal never materialised, and with the player thriving at Dortmund, Mikel Arteta may have reignited this interest in January.

Arsenal have been linked again in the last few days, with it claimed that Arsenal view him as a versatile attacking option to add in January, but it now seems that a move will not materialise.

Julian Brandt unlikely to leave Borussia Dortmund in January

A report from Eurosport in Germany has now claimed that despite Arsenal’s interest, a transfer in the January window is all but impossible, with a move far more likely in the summer.

Brandt has scored six and provided five goals in 16 appearances in all competitions this season, and can play on both wings as well as behind the striker.

He would arrive with over 400 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and Dortmund combined, and has 45 Germany caps to his name.

How good is Julian Brandt?

The attacking midfielder is a top-quality player, and current Arsenal star Kai Havertz previously heaped praise on his international teammate.

“I wrote to him (Brandt) on Tuesday after the game. (Jadon) Sancho and (Erling) Haaland aren’t playing too badly either, but at the moment he’s the best player at (Borussia) Dortmund,” Havertz stated of Brandt in 2020.

For Brandt to be considered better than Erling Haaland, even three years ago, speaks volumes about his quality, and given his versatility, he could be a fine addition to the Arsenal squad.

However, should Arsenal move for Brandt, it could further limit opportunities for Emile Smith Rowe, and given that Brandt is seemingly unavailable in January, it appears unlikely that he will ever end up at the Emirates.
