Arsenal target Victor Osimhen is set to make a move in the summer.

As reported by Football Transfers, Arsenal are keen on securing the services of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with the Gunners’ sporting director Edu having held talks with the Serie A outfit.

According to 90min, Osimhen is now more “more likely” to leave Napoli at the end of the current campaign, having reached an impasse in contract talks with the Italian outfit.

Of course, even if the 24-year-old’s long-term future is in some doubt, three’s no chance that he will come cheap. Napoli have previously put a £150 million price tag on the forward.

The Gunners will also surely face intense competition for the player’s signature, as he is one of the most talented goalscorers in the European game at this time. Osimhen was in especially prolific form last season, scoring 31 goals in 39 outings, across all competitions, as he fired Napoli to an historic Serie A title triumph.

The 27-cap Nigeria international has started the new season in similar fashion, racking up six goals in ten outings so far.

Arsenal ready to push for Victor Osimhen in summer

Osimhen would certainly be an exciting addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad. Club legend Sol Campbell has made it clear he would love to see Arsenal sign Osimhen. There is no doubt that the player is one of the best strikers currently on the market.

Arsenal are certainly on the lookout for a new striker. They have been heavily linked with a move for Ivan Toney. However, there are doubts about whether or not the Brentford man is willing to make a move in the upcoming January transfer window.

Toney wouldn’t come cheap, either. As per Sky Sports, the Bees are thought to want at least £100 million in exchange for the once-capped England man.

It is unsurprising to see that Arteta is keen to bolster his options in this part of the pitch. For all of his quality, Gabriel Jesus is injury-prone and wasteful in front of goal, whilst Eddie Nketiah would also struggle to be prolific enough to fire the north London club to a title.

However, Arsenal would struggle to sign the elite level forward they need in the upcoming January transfer window. Arteta will only have a very limited budget to work with at that time, barring some major sales. This could mean that the club are willing to go all in on Osimhen when summer next rolls around.
