Eddie Nketiah transfer update

There have been plenty of twists and turns surrounding the future of Eddie Nketiah and plenty more are expected in the coming week as the transfer window comes to a close.

The forward has been an unused substitute in both of Arsenal’s opening Premier League matches so far, with regular football a rarity at this stage for the striker.

This summer has seen plenty of interest in the Hale End academy graduate, though a twist in the market recently saw Nottingham Forest pull out of the transfer race for Nketiah.

He is still expected to make a switch away from the Gunners in the time remaining in the transfer window though.

Crystal Palace appear to be the latest team in the mix as The Athletic reports that The Eagles are looking into the move.

Talks have already been held between the two clubs over a potential switch, but a deal hadn’t progressed beyond that point.

With little time left to strike a deal, all eyes will be on the 25-year-old and whether he makes a move or not.

Jakub Kiwior offer

Another Arsenal player who faces an uncertain future with the transfer deadline looming is defender Jakub Kiwior.

The Poland international was an important player in the backline last season, often filling in for Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back.

There is uncertainty over his place in the current squad though, following on from the return of Jurrien Timber from injury and the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

As teams circle a potential deal for Kiwior, another offer appears to be on the table for the Gunners to consider.

According to Calciomercato, it’s Bologna who have made the most recent effort to sign the 24-year-old this summer.

The only issue is that the offer on the table is a loan with an option to buy, which Arsenal are yet to make a decision over.

With just a few days remaining in the market, it remains to be seen exactly how the Gunners wish to proceed.

Mikel Merino’s Arsenal medical

After a drawn-out transfer saga, it appears as though Arsenal are finally set to announce a deal for Mikel Merino soon.

The Gunners have been credited with long-term interest in the Real Sociedad star, but talks over a move had stalled in recent weeks.

There were some doubts over whether the Premier League side would be able to land the Spaniard – who has impressed for both club and country in the past year.

However, reports have since claimed Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Merino and it looks all but sealed.

With that in mind, a medical has now taken place, according to Fabrizio Romano, which will be the final piece of the puzzle before the documents are signed, sealed and delivered.

It means that Mikel Arteta will finally land his ideal midfield option, with time to land one or two other signings before Friday’s deadline.
