Mikel Merino Arsenal bid rejected

Arsenal are in talks to sign Mikel Merino, with the Spanish midfielder agreeing personal terms with the club.

However, the Gunners have had a second bid rejected, according to Spanish outlet Cope, with Real Sociedad reportedly holding out for a higher fee.

The deal is expected to be completed, and this could be a tactic to earn more money from the transfer, with La Real reportedly demanding close to £34m as a total package for the 28-year-old.

Mikel Arteta will hope to have the midfielder signed before Arsenal’s trip to face Aston Villa this weekend.

Eddie Nketiah transfer update

Nottingham Forest have had a bid for Eddie Nketiah rejected, but are still in talks over a move.

An alternative for them is Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, but the Mexican prefers to stay in the Netherlands for another season.

However, talkSPORT have now reported that Nketiah’s wage demands could scupper the deal, despite Forest coming close to his asking price over the transfer fee.

Liverpool could hijack Arsenal’s Joan Garcia move

Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, in the event that Aaron Ramsdale departs the club.

However, it has now been reported by Mundo Deportivo that Liverpool could rival Arsenal for the 23-year-old, with Arsenal yet to make an offer to Espanyol.

Liverpool are looking for a long-term option to eventually succeed Alisson, and it is claimed that they could be an option for the Spaniard, with Arsenal now needing to move quickly to secure his signature.
