Arsenal face a busy end to the summer transfer window, and there has been a new development in the goalkeeping roster.
Aaron Ramsdale looks set to depart after losing his starting spot to David Raya last year, but Arsenal recently rejected a loan offer from Ajax.
Arsenal prefer to sell the player, but another loan offer has come in. Wolves have bid for Ramsdale, on an initial loan with an offer to buy, and talks are ongoing as they try to strike a deal with Arsenal.
Ramsdale needs to leave to play regularly, but if he does depart, Arsenal will need to replace him in the squad. It has now emerged that they have already decided on a replacement.

Arsenal agree personal terms with Joan Garcia amid Aaron Ramsdale offer
Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who was linked with the Gunners earlier this summer.
“Arsenal have already reached verbal agreement with Spanish GK Joan García on personal terms. He’s the priority target for Arsenal to replace Aaron Ramsdale if he leaves in final 10 days. Espanyol are aware of Arsenal interest but no official bid yet, depends on Ramsdale,” he posted on X.
Garcia became Espanyol’s first-choice goalkeeper in the latter half of last season as they achieved promotion back to La Liga, and he started in their first game of the new campaign.
Espanyol lost 1-0 to Real Valladolid, who started Arsenal loanee Karl Hein in the other net, but Garcia could not do anything about Raul Moro’s goal, which took a wicked deflection to consign his side to defeat.
Why Arsenal want Joan Garcia to replace Aaron Ramsdale
Arsenal have been linked with former Gunner Wojciech Szczesny, but it appears that Mikel Arteta wants a younger option who shares the same style as Raya.
Garcia ranks highly for aerial claims, and is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, making him a perfect fit for Arteta despite his relative inexperience.
The 23-year-old would be able to step in for Raya as a keeper comfortable at sweeping and in the air, making him an ideal backup, but the problem does remain over how many first-team chances he will get to develop his game, as well as his potential price tag as Garcia’s release clause expired.
Nevertheless, if Arsenal do sign the Espanyol star, they will be landing a very highly rated player in Spain, with Garcia also part of the squad which just won the Olympics football tournament.
