Arteta could stun Erik ten Hag as Arsenal may hijack £25m Man Utd deal, it’d be a brilliant move

Arsenal are now seeking to challenge Manchester United for the signing of one Euro 2024 attacker this summer.

Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his Arsenal squad in the wide areas in this transfer window.

The Gunners certainly lack adequate cover and competition for Bukayo Saka. Whilst Reiss Nelson can deputise for the England star, Arteta clearly lacks faith in the Hale End academy graduate who was only handed one Premier League start last season.

Gabriel Jesus can also operate on the right flank, but has primarily played as a striker for the Gunners. Saka is a star player for Arsenal, but Arteta needs to be able to rest and rotate him at times.

The North London club have been linked with winners that they could potentially sign, including Spain star Nico Williams. However, Arsenal have been warned against signing Williams, as his high wage demands could cause issues in the dressing room at the Emirates Stadium.

As such, the Gunners are now considering a more affordable option, in the form of Viktor Tsygankov.

Arsenal and Manchester United in race to land Viktor Tsygankov

According to Spanish publication AS, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Aston Villa are all interested in signing Tsygankov, who has a £25 million release clause.

As things stand, as per Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils seem to leading the race for his services, with Erik ten Hag having personally made contact with the Ukrainian.

However, the Gunners could still turn the 26-year-old’s head and prise him away from Girona.

Who is Arsenal and Man Utd target Tsygankov?

Tsygankov was in fantastic form for the Spanish side last season, as he recorded 8 goals and 7 assists in 30 La Liga appearances.

He also featured for Ukraine at Euro 2024 this summer. If he does join Arsenal then he will at least find a familiar face at the Emirates Stadium in the shape of his compatriot Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Arteta may well be attracted to Tsygankov’s versatility. Not only can he operate on the right wing, but he is comfortable on the left flank too and can operate centrally behind the striker. This means that he also offers cover for the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and could provide a solution for the Gunners in the left-eight midfield position.

Given his flexibility, price tag, and experience, Tsygankov would represent a fantastic signing for Arsenal.
