Arsenal missed the chance to sign Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad two years ago, but links have reemerged in recent days.
Newcastle are struggling with their financial fair play situation and may have to sell a big player in the next two windows, and it was recently reported that Mikel Arteta is still a huge admirer of Isak, who moved to St James’ Park in the summer of 2022.
Arsenal signed Gabriel Jesus in the same summer, and whilst his overall play has been good, his finishing has been criticised, as he has struggled in front of goal.
Isak joined Newcastle for £63m, and Arsenal would have to pay a premium to convince them to sell, but if they are to pursue an expensive forward in the summer transfer window, he could be a lot more suitable than the strongly linked Ivan Toney.
Arsenal told Alexander Isak would be perfect upfront
Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Charles Watts claimed that the 24-year-old would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal if they were able to pull it off.
“I would sign Isak, 100%,” Watts stated.
“I think Isak would be perfect for Arsenal. Absolutely perfect for Arsenal, and I think he’d be a huge success here.
“I think he’s got everything he needs to be a success in this Arsenal team. I think he presses well, I think he’s really athletic, he can score goals, he’s proven he can score goals in the Premier League.
“He’s strong, really talented, technically he’s excellent, I would sign Isak 100% for Arsenal.
Arsenal missed golden chance to sign Isak before

Arsenal could have signed Isak when they chose Gabriel Jesus instead, as the forward was heavily linked during his time at Real Sociedad.
He previously formed an excellent partnership with Martin Odegaard, but Arteta elected for the Premier League proven option in Jesus, and whilst the Brazilian has been a good addition, Isak perhaps offers more in front of goal.
He scored a stunning equaliser for Newcastle against Manchester City to make it 14 goals in 23 games in all competitions, and he is someone who could help solve Arsenal’s goalscoring issues.
Arsenal are struggling to score from open play, and Isak is someone who can add a clinical edge upfront, whilst also adding some necessary pace and strength in the final third.
It still feels like a highly unlikely deal, but if there is even a slight chance of landing him, Arsenal should abandon any pursuit of Toney to secure the Sweden star.
