Como want to sign one of Hale End’s most exciting academy products this summer.
Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is trying to use his connection to lure Ethan Nwaneri away to Serie A.
According to TEAMtalk, Como are among the clubs pushing hardest to sign the 19-year-old this summer, with Fabregas keen to add Nwaneri to a side that has just secured European football for the first time in their history.
Como would use the lure of regular Champions League minutes as part of their pitch, and are open to a variety of deal structures, including a loan with an option to buy or a permanent transfer.
Nwaneri holds the record for the youngest ever player to play in the Premier League, having debuted at 15 years and 181 days against Brentford in September 2022.
🙏 Which Arsenal player would you most like to see score the winning goal in the UCL final?
There’s a sort of symmetry there with Fabregas, who himself broke through at Arsenal at a similarly tender age.
The interest from Como comes at a time of genuine uncertainty over Nwaneri’s future at the Emirates.
While he remains hugely admired internally at Arsenal, concerns have grown over the level of first-team opportunities likely to be available to him next season.
The emergence of Max Dowman has further complicated his situation, and sources close to the player indicate he is keen for regular senior football.
Arsenal face a summer transfer decision over Ethan Nwaneri
Como are far from the only interested party.
TEAMtalk also report that Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Everton are all exploring permanent deals, while Coventry City and Ipswich Town are among those keen on a loan arrangement.
RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund have also been tracking Nwaneri for some time, with the Bundesliga remaining an attractive destination for young English talent.
If you could set Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly’s price tags, how much would you demand?
Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta have a difficult decision to make.
Nwaneri is still contracted until 2030, so Arsenal have plenty of leverage when negotiating a potential fee.
Given the player’s potential, the smart play might be a loan to a Premier League club where he would be guaranteed minutes.
Fresh talks are expected in the coming weeks, and with Fabregas on the other end of the phone, the decision just got a little more complicated.
