Arsenal are heading towards the January transfer window with a lot of work to do both on and off the pitch.
Sitting nine points below Premier League leaders Liverpool is not where Mikel Arteta would want his squad to be after 13 games.
Added to the Gunners underperforming this season so far, Arteta is also searching for a figure to replace Edu Gaspar.
Edu shocked many by leaving Arsenal as he bid farewell to the North Londoners, leaving the hunt for a new sporting director wide open.

Arsenal wanted to sign Joshua Kimmich
Edu had many transfer wishes at the Emirates, with one being Bayern Munich sensation Joshua Kimmich.
Arsenal were linked to Kimmich during the summer as the German midfielder emerged as a possible target for Edu.
The Gunners signed a defensive midfielder in the form of Mikel Merino however, the Spaniard’s arrival hasn’t put the North Londoners out of the race to sign another player in the position.
Arteta reportedly wants to sign Martin Zubimendi who plays the same midfield role.
Given Arsenal’s previous link to Kimmich, it could be that the 29-year-old remains on Arteta’s radar even though Edu has moved on.
Kai Havertz would be keen to see Kimmich at Arsenal, with the duo reporting to international duty together, holding a close relationship.
Just as the ship to sign the Champions League winner looked to have sailed, a fresh chance to sign the Bundesliga ace could emerge in the summer.
Kimmich shares January transfer plans
Just as the situation was when Arsenal were eyeing the defensive midfielder in the summer, Kimmich’s future at Bayern Munich is rather uncertain.
Capology lists the former Stuttgart star as being a top earner at Bayern Munich with a weekly wage of £311k and a contract that expires next summer.
Interest could resurface as Kimmich opened up about his future in Bavaria in an interview with ZDF, making it clear that his next step will be decided in January.
“I will not wait until summer. I will sit down in winter and then try to see the bigger picture. In January, I will make the right decision.” Kimmich said when discussing his contract.
The Bayern Munich star could be on the move in the summer if the Bundesliga giants can’t strike a deal to keep hold of the Germany international.
Such could alert Arsenal to his possible availability, as a player with huge experience and quality could become a free agent in the summer of 2025.
