One of the biggest clubs in Europe have been ‘left in despair’ after what Arsenal have done.

The Gunners are now among the best teams in the world. Mikel Arteta has truly transformed the club and has turned them into serious contenders for both, the Premier League and the Champions League titles.

Arsenal, however, haven’t won either trophy yet. To go the distance, they need to strengthen their squad, and Arteta and Edu Gaspar are working hard behind the scenes.

Apart from turning David Raya’s loan into a permanent deal, the North Londoners haven’t signed anyone in this window yet. That could change very soon.

How Juventus are feeling after Arsenal hijack Riccardo Calafiori move

Arsenal look like the favourites to sign Riccardo Calafiori this summer.

The Gunners were expected to strengthen the left side of their defence in this window, but the Italian defender wasn’t a name that was heavily linked for a long time.

However, after a fine Euro 2024 campaign, things changed and Arsenal reached an agreement in principle to sign Calafiori from Bologna in this window.

It looks really likely now that the Italian will end up at the Emirates Stadium, with reports claiming on Monday that Arsenal could sign Calafiori within 48 hours.

That is great news if you’re a Gooner, but if you’re someone associated with Juventus, you probably have your head in your hands.

The Bianconeri have been chasing Calafiori for months and GiveMeSport claim they even had an agreement in place with the Italian over a summer move.

However, once Arsenal entered the race and Arteta spoke to Calafiori, his head was turned, and the report claims Juventus have been ‘left in despair’ because of the Gunners hijacking their deal.

An agreement between the clubs hasn’t been reached yet, but Arsenal have been described as the ‘frontrunners’ for Calafiori’s signature and a £43 million bid should seal the deal.

Arsenal finally get their revenge on Juventus

Juventus will not be happy about missing out on Calafiori.

History over the last decade will tell you that the Bianconeri are always the favourites to sign an Italian player in the Serie A – even though English clubs are capable of offering way more money.

Mikel Arteta learned this the hard way a few years ago when Manuel Locatelli refused to join Arsenal in the summer of 2021. He ended up at Juventus in the same window.

There were fears that Arsenal’s move for Calafiori could become ‘Locatelli 2.0’, but all signs point towards the Gunners winning the race this time.

If it does happen, Arsenal will finally get their revenge on Juventus, and they should be really happy as Calafiori’s ceiling is a lot higher than Locatelli’s ever was.
