Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori is now keen to finalise his summer transfer to Arsenal for two main reasons.
Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Riccardo Calafiori.
Details of the contract that Arsenal have offered to Calafiori have recently emerged, and it seems increasingly likely that the defender will make the move to the Emirates Stadium in this summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old impressed for Italy at Euro 2024 this summer, and would be an exciting addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad. He offers versatility, as he can operate comfortably as a left-back and as a centre-back, and has all of the attributes required to thrive in the Premier League.
The Bologna ace possesses brilliant technical ability, is physically powerful and solid in the air, and has decent pace. He can make an impact at both ends of the pitch, and is able to combine being progressive on the ball with being committed and aggressive in his defending.
It is easy to see how he would fit in at the Emirates Stadium, and it is clear now that the player himself is determined to make the switch to North London.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Riccardo Calafiori interest in joining Arsenal
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has detailed two reasons that Calafiori is so keen to sign for Arsenal: “Calafiori, we know that, has an agreement with Arsenal. Calafiori is in love with the possibility of joining Arsenal. He loves the possibility to work under a fantastic coach like Mikel Arteta.
“Calafiori believes that Arsenal project is an amazing project for present but also future, full of young talents. So, Calafiori is really attracted by this possibility.”
With the player excited about the Arsenal project, and for the opportunity to work with Arteta, the club have been able to agree personal terms with the defender. As detailed by Romano: “The contract is there. It is a five-year deal, 2029. €4 million (£3.38 million) net per season. Everything is ready on the player’s side.”
The Gunners must now strike a deal with Bologna in order to get this transfer over the line. Romano added: “Calafiori is just waiting for the call from Bologna telling him, okay, you have been sold, you can travel for medical. So, this is the situation for Calafiori.”
