Club Brugge are demanding that Arsenal pay a Belgian Pro League record fee to sign Christos Tzolis this summer.
Arsenal have entered talks to sign Tzolis this summer, with the North London club looking to bolster their attacking options.
Discuss: What is the ideal sale price for Gabriel Martinelli?
The 24-year-old is one of the hottest emerging talents playing in Belgium right now, and Arsenal see him as an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli.
Tzolis managed a remarkable 22 goals and 29 assists in 52 matches for Brugge last season, and now he could be on the move.
Club Brugge want a record fee for Christos Tzolis
Club Brugge will demand a record fee of 40 million euros for Arsenal target Christos Tzolis this summer, according to James McNicholas.
Paying £34 million to sign Tzolis would still be a punt for the Gunners, given that he has not proven himself outside Belgium, but it’s still a relatively low fee by today’s standards.
40 million euros would be a record fee for the Belgian Pro League, but that is what Brugge want to sell their star attacker.
Speaking on Arseblog Arsecast, McNicholas said: “Price-wise, from what I understand, Brugge are looking for a club record, I think it might be a league record in the region of 40 million euros.
🏆 Which Arsenal star will go the furthest at this summer’s World Cup?
Zubimendi and Spain? Saka and England? Saliba and France?
“I’m not sure how much that is anymore, really. I mean, to the question of how much is appropriate to spend on these kind of punts, I think 40 million is probably a bit heavy to put him in that category.”
Tzolis would most likely be the replacement for Martinelli, who could end up leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The Gunners will surely want to sign another attacker after the Greek international, given the fact that he is such an unproven arrival.
Left wing is the priority for Arsenal, and making a high-profile addition will be key for the North London club.
