Wolves are reportedly holding out a Premier League bidding war over Pedro Neto, who Arsenal are believed to be chasing.

The Portuguese international is expected to leave Molineux at the end of this season, with a number of top Premier League clubs all chasing Neto’s signature.

Tottenham have reportedly joined the fold this week with Arsenal retaining their long-standing interest in Neto, and Wolves are now holding out for a war this summer for the attacker.

As reported by the Evening Standard, Wolves are eager to rake in a new club-record fee for Neto, with Gary O’Neil’s side setting a £60m asking price for the Portuguese international.

Hailed by Jamie Carragher as a ‘superstar’ of a player, Arsenal could end up getting sucked in this summer in their attempt to sign Neto, with the finances potentially becoming inflated.

Indeed, Neto would be an excellent addition for the north London side and add some real depth and quality to Mikel Arteta’s wide-attacking options.

However, with Wolves hopeful of a bidding war being ignited for Neto, Arsenal could choose to sit this transfer battle out if the numbers involved start becoming too unrealistic.

With a centre-forward and a midfielder on Arsenal’s agenda this summer, the Gunners can’t afford to overspend on a plate like Neto in the coming months.

Although the Portuguese international would be an exceptional addition as Arsenal look to rival the squads of Manchester City and Liverpool, the finances might not be worth it for the north London side.

As a result, Arsenal must first wait to see what will happen in the market for Neto this summer, with the first bid for the attacker something that will set the tone for this transfer battle.
