Ethan Nwaneri is attracting a lot of attention in the January transfer window, with one club currently working on a loan.
Nwaneri should leave Arsenal on loan in search of minutes, as a talent of his needs to be playing regularly.
Despite Mikel Arteta’s admiration for the player, the Arsenal academy graduate has now dropped out of the Premier League matchday squad, seeing his game time reduce dramatically.
It’s understood that Nwaneri would like to stay at Arsenal to gain experience of being around a title-challenging squad, but there’s now a chance that he could actually depart.
Writing for The Athletic, David Ornstein has revealed that Marseille are currently working on a deal to sign Nwaneri on loan.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi, formerly of Brighton, has been in contact with Arteta about a deal for Nwaneri, discussions that Ornstein reports have been ‘positive’.

Arsenal only want Ethan Nwaneri to leave on loan amid Marseille links
We know that Nwaneri has been attracting interest from the Premier League, which Ornstein doubled down on.
The issue that Arsenal have with such interest is that some clubs are eager to sign Nwaneri permanently, which is out of the question for the Gunners.
Ornstein reports that a deal with Marseille would be until the end of the season with no option to buy, which would be Arsenal fans’ main concern.
The journalist states that the deal is not ‘agreed yet’ and that any arrangement would include a ‘fee that is changeable’ depending on factors such as appearances made.
Nwaneri could join a list of former Premier League talent in Ligue 1, including ex-Gunners Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
