Ethan Nwaneri’s future at Arsenal has been a hot topic of discussion in recent weeks.
The teenager signed a new contract at the club in the summer. After rejecting several top teams and choosing to continue at the Emirates, he would’ve hoped for some significant game time.
However, the midfielder hasn’t started a game in the Premier League yet and has been limited to just 446 minutes of football in all competitions.
That has led to rumours that Nwaneri could leave Arsenal on loan in the winter transfer window, but the youngster is said to have made a surprise decision.
You’re Ethan Nwaneri, which league are you choosing to go on loan to in January and why?
Ethan Nwaneri does not want to leave Arsenal in January despite lack of game time
Ethan Nwaneri is a special talent.
The teenager still holds the record of being the youngest player to make an appearance in the Premier League, and everyone in the game believes he is destined to be a superstar.
However, for Nwaneri to fulfil his potential, he needs to be playing, but that has not been happening at Arsenal this season.
It has been so difficult for the 18-year-old that he was even left out of the matchday squad against Aston Villa following the return of Kai Havertz from his injury.
That is unlikely to change in the coming games, which is why many feel that a move away on loan in the January transfer window would be perfect for him.
However, TeamTalk have revealed that Nwaneri is not looking to leave Arsenal in this window, and the Gunners have no interest in letting him go either.
It has been claimed that Mikel Arteta does not want to weaken his side ahead of the second half of the season as Arsenal look to go all the way in every competition.
If you were in Ethan Nwaneri’s shoes right now, would you stay at Arsenal or leave on loan?
Ethan Nwaneri will struggle for game time in 2026
It is a big surprise to us that Nwaneri is not looking to leave Arsenal on loan in January.
The teenager is unlikely to even get on the bench when everyone is fit, so staying at the club instead of going out to play regularly feels like a mistake for his development.
We’re sure Nwaneri will be hoping to get more game time in 2026, but that is unlikely, as another player who is ahead of him, Eberechi Eze, is barely playing himself.
The summer signing has been an unused substitute in each of Arsenal’s last three Premier League games, and he will struggle to get back into the side because of Martin Odegaard’s incredible form.
Nwaneri will find it even more difficult, which is why we can’t believe that he wants to stay at the club.
