Arsenal’s bid to sign Eberechi Eze is set to run deep into the transfer window.
Interest from the Gunners is still there in Eze, despite learning that North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have made a move to lure him to White Hart Lane.
Eze’s preference is to join Arsenal and the club are hopeful that the 27-year-old will remain patient and allow some player sales to occur before making their move.
Crystal Palace have been adamant all summer that they will only accept the player’s £68m release clause, however, with that expiring on the eve of the Premier League season, David Ornstein has shared how much Eze would then cost.

Crystal Palace still want £68m for Eberechi Eze even after his release clause expires
Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Athletic FC’ podcast, Ornstein has claimed that Crystal Palace will not budge from their £68m asking price on Eze even after his release clause expires.
Ornstein stated: “If the finances are right or are going to be right then there could be a deal to be done. There’s a lot of talk about this release clause £60m + £8m and when it expires but even if there’s no release clause, that is still the sort of money that Palace will be looking for.”
It is believed that Ethan Nwaneri has prevented a bid for Eze so far with his performances playing in the number ten role.
However, Mikel Arteta is adamant that Eze can be a player that can help Arsenal unlock deep defences next season and is keen to bring the 27-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.
Andrea Berta is looking at Eze alternatives but what is clear, the Gunners know they are still one signing away from having their complete summer window they craved.
Eberechi Eze would be Arsenal’s third most expensive signing
Should the Gunners give in and pay the £68m asking price for Eze, he would become the club’s third most expensive signing behind Declan Rice and Nicolas Pepe.
Arsenal paid West Ham a sum of £105m for their star midfielder back in 2023, whilst Unai Emery splashed £72m on Pepe back in 2019.
Arsenal’s current record signings
Declan Rice (£105m)
Nicolas Pepe (£72m)
Kai Havertz (£65m)
Viktor Gyokeres (£63m)
Martin Zubimendi (£60m)
It would be a gamble from the club given that Eze is not guaranteed to start in Arteta’s first-choice line up.
Gabriel Martinelli is a more natural left-winger than Eze and captain Martin Odegaard currently occupies the number ten role.
It would increase Arsenal’s depth and quality in attacking options – something that they fell majorly short with last season.
