Arsenal are expected to strengthen their midfield this summer.

The Gunners have Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Myles Lewis-Skelly in that role, while Christian Norgaard can also play there.

The Dane is expected to be sold this summer, so a number of midfielders have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

One of them is Bournemouth star Alex Scott.

Bournemouth’s stance on selling Alex Scott to Arsenal

Scott has many admirers in the Premier League after his phenomenal season at Bournemouth.

The midfielder was one of Andoni Iraola’s best players last term, and many people feel this is the right time for him to take the next step in his career.

Fabrizio Romano revealed recently that Arsenal had opened talks with Bournemouth for Scott, who is of interest to a few other top sides.

Now, David Ornstein has had his say on the situation, and if his information is to be believed, the Cherries are not going to entertain any offers.

He said on The Athletic’s podcast: “He has been discussed at Arsenal, Manchester United and no doubt elsewhere, but it is particularly difficult because Bournemouth have no intention of selling him.

“That’s the word coming from the club.

“Even if it is an astronomical offer, they are adamant that he is staying put for the first season at least under Marco Rose.”

Arsenal shouldn’t be too upset if they miss out on Alex Scott

Scott is a brilliant midfielder, and he has the potential to play for a top club.

Arsenal are right to be interested in the Englishman, but he is not someone they should be breaking the bank on this summer.

The likes of Ayyoub Bouaddi and Sandro Tonali are both available on the market, and we feel they would be more value-for-money options.

It would be a shame to see Scott go elsewhere and shine, but it definitely won’t be the end of the world. Arsenal can do better.
