Aston Villa star Jhon Duran has been linked with a move to Arsenal in this window.
Mikel Arteta’s side continue to explore the market for a new striker. They are in real need of one before the window shuts on Monday night.
Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, and Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal called to enquire about Duran recently.
Now, there is an update on that front.
David Ornstein shares Jhon Duran transfer update after Arsenal links
Duran has been a revelation at Aston Villa this season.
The Colombian only joined the Villans two years ago, but his performances over the last few months have made him a wanted man.
Unai Emery’s preference of playing with just one striker has pushed Duran behind Ollie Watkins, and that is why there is a lot of speculation about his future.
Arsenal supporters are divided over whether Duran should be signed, and one-half of the fan base will now be happy to hear Ornstein’s update.
The journalist has revealed that Arsenal will not be signing Duran in this window.
Ornstein said on talkSPORT: “Because of Arsenal’s situation, some in the public domain have sort of suggested and fans are asking: ‘Could Arsenal go for Duran?’
“Sorry to disappoint them again. That’s not a player Arsenal are going for.”
Ornstein rules out five other Arsenal transfers
The striker market is a really difficult one at the moment.
There aren’t many in the world who would take Arsenal to the next level, and the ones who could are just not available in this window.
Ornstein has claimed that Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko will both not move in the coming days, while Viktor Gyokeres is not high on Arsenal’s agenda.
Other targets like Bryan Mbeumo and Dusan Vlahovic are also not expected to be on the move before Monday night’s deadline.
That complicates things for Arsenal – there is a chance they could end up with nobody in this window.
