‘Dream target’: Arsenal’s number one choice to replace Gabriel Martinelli has been revealed

Arsenal will go into the summer transfer market ready to spend money, regardless of how many trophies they win this season.

Mikel Arteta is keen to add to the ranks and that could mean a number of players are moved on or have to drop down the pecking order.

One such player who has underwhelmed for most of this season is Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian has done ok in Europe but in the league, he has scored just one goal in 28 appearances.

That is simply not good enough for the Gunners and according to Ben Jacobs, Arsenal have a ‘dream’ target in their mind.

Arsenal would love to sign PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

With top wingers at a premium in the modern game it does seem like the very best around are currently playing across in Europe.

Michael Olise is one, Raphinha another, while PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is arguably the best in the world right now in his position.

However, according to journalist Jacobs, Kvaratskhelia is very much Arsenal’s top target.

Anthony Gordon is one name Arsenal like. Bayern are obviously there as well.

“Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a dream target for Arsenal, but PSG have zero intention to sell,” Jacobs revealed.

Gabriel Martinelli will know his place is under threat

Despite being a constant in Arsenal’s squad selection this season, there is absolutely no doubt that fans are right to have expected more from Martinelli.

As mentioned, he has netted six times in Europe and played the crucial pass that saw Kai Havertz score late on at Sporting Lisbon.

However, that Premier League form of just a single goal is just not good enough. Couple that with the fact that Noni Madueke on the opposite side hasn’t produced either and Arsenal suddenly find themselves with a problem.

Leandro Trossard has done ok but again, by the standards Arsenal are looking for, it’s not quite at the level of player they want to sign.

Ultimately, Martinelli will know he’s not delivered. And right now, it appears his position in the team is under the most threat out of everyone.
