Arsenal still have a lot of work to do in this summer’s transfer window.
The Gunners turned David Raya’s loan into a permanent deal early in July before completing the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
Reports have claimed that Mikel Merino is close to joining Arsenal, and we think he would be a great signing if the deal goes through. However, the Gunners need more in this window.
Reinforcements in goal, attacking midfield to replace Emile Smith Rowe, and in attack are still a necessity, and Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta could pull off some smart deals if they decide to bring a few ex-Gunners stars back.
Three former players Arsenal should consider re-signing
Wojciech Szczesny:
Aaron Ramsdale could leave Arsenal this summer after falling behind Raya in the pecking order. If the Englishman departs, the Gunners will need a new number two.
Szczesny has been made available for a transfer by Juventus, and we think Arsenal should consider bringing him back to the club.
Arteta only needs a stop-gap emergency option to provide cover for Raya, and we think Szczesny is more than capable of doing that. To add to that, he loves Arsenal too and will be welcomed with open arms by the fans.

Alexis Sanchez:
Sanchez is available as a free agent after leaving Inter Milan, and we think he would be a decent option for Arsenal.
The Chile international was unbelievable during his time at the Emirates, and although he left on bad terms, he has admitted that leaving was a mistake and has constantly shown love to Arsenal on social media in recent years.
Sanchez is Bukayo Saka’s idol as well. The Arsenal number seven has claimed that he grew up watching the former Barcelona man in action and admitted that he loved him as a player (Standard).
Despite being 35 now, we think Sanchez has it in him to give Arsenal one more season, and his versatility will give options to Arteta across the front line. The fact that he can be signed for free makes it even better.

Eberechi Eze
Eze is the youngest and arguably the most exciting name on this list.
Many people may not remember that he was once at Arsenal but the Crystal Palace star was a part of the club’s academy many years ago.
However, he was released when he was 13 and Eze has since admitted that he cried ‘for a solid week’ after he was let go (Independent).
Now, with Smith Rowe gone, Eze would be a great replacement, and we think Arsenal should make a move to sign him.
However, unlike Szczesny and Sanchez, Eze will cost a lot of money – his release clause has been set at an eye-watering £60 million plus another £8 million in add-ons (Daily Mail).
